Uncategorized | Comment (0)Parent Teach Interviews
2 days ago I had my parent teach interview. I had to make a 2 minute presentation. Some people in my class used the laptops, but I just wanted to use my books. I showed my parents my maths, literacy, reflection and reading book. At the interview I mostly read off my script. I also talked about my goal which is completing this terms High Flyer. Next time I want to learn it off by heart and talk more fluently. I think still went pretty well though. I wasn’t nervous at all because they were just my parents. At the end I think the interview went pretty well, and I am happy with it.
Power Community Youth Program
Today we had our second visit from the Athletes who work for the Power Community Youth Program. They were Moronia Gerrard, Jonathon Giles and Matt Thomas. They were talking to us about how smoking and taking drugs is bad for you. They talked about all the bad effects it can have, like heart disease and lung cancer. Then we talked about tobacco and what chemicals are in it. Today I learnt a lot and I think it is good that they are teaching us.
My Learning This Term!!!!!!!!!!
So far this term I have learned a lot of things……too many to list! One that stood out to me personaly was the maths that we did on percentages. Our learning intentionfor that was: To know how to change a fraction into a %. And that was exactly what we have been learning. I am proud of myself because I got it straight away. This also showed in my report.

Our Abstract Art
Yesterday we did abstract art. Abstract describes a type of painting, drawing or sculpture which tries to represent the real imagined qualities of objects or people by using shapes, lines and colour, and does not try to show their outer appearance as it would be seen in a photograph. In our art we had to use circles to create anything we want. We had to choose three to four different colours. I made up an animal called spunk. I chose this name because it looked like a spunk and because I heard this name in a movie (it is made up).

On the 25th of April we had Anzac Day. This is a very special day for Australians because on that day many Australian soldiers and New Zealand soldiers fought in Gallipoli in Turkey during World War 1. Most of the soldiers died and that’s why we celebrate Anzac Day, to remember them. A symbol of this day is the poppy flower because it has a symbolic links to the dawn landing at Gallipoli.
Our Harmony Day Art !
A week ago we did some art for Harmony Day. We had to use crayons to give the special effect. We had to draw faces that all looked different. I drew a lot of crazy and weird faces. Some of my faces were different colours to show the different backgrounds. I used a lot of bright colours which made it look even better. We had to choose 2 colours for the backround but I didn’t know that so I just did one. I made the backround dark green. When it was hung up it looked really good next to all the others.

‘A leader takes people where they want to go. A great leader takes people where they don’t necessarily want to go, but ought to be.’- Rosalym Carter
My Understanding-
I chose this quote because it shows that a good leader has to step up by leading people in the right direction. If a leader steps up others will start to follow take responsibility and start working hard as well even if it isn’t fun. For example when there was a relief teacher in our class most people often tended to be disrespectful, so as leader a certain person in our class stepped up and took action, soon everyone started doing the right thing. In that way I believe that leaders need to act strong and take risks even if people don’t agree with them to achieve the best for the people.
MY REFLECTION
Doing this task my challenge was definitaly using the Photoshop program because I had never used it before. The problem was, when I saved my work on Photoshop I wanted to edit it afterwards, but I couldn’t. I asked someone but they didn’t know either, so I just used what I had. I think, for me, explaining the quote was the easiest part. It was also interesting to learn more about using the Photoshop program.
Uncategorized | Comment (0)Are Leaders Made Or Born ?
In my opinion leaders have to be made and are not born. Think about a great leader you know about, were they born as a great leader? True, some people are born with certain abilities of leadership but that doesn`t make them a leader automatically. If you want to become a leader you have to work hard and try your best. Some of the abilities a leader should have are organisation, persistence, knowledge, patience, positive thinking and honesty. And those are just a few.
